Pilgrims' progress: PeaceforEarth walk

Ruah and Louis reached Vancouver
Nov 11 and will make a circuit of Bellingham WA and Victoria BC before starting on their 1400-mile trek south. Read their journal and see their weblog with map, podcasts and videos.

"We work
for Quaker Earthcare Witness, a nonprofit organization within the Religious Society of Friends that is seeking to 'develop a testimony for an earth restored as clear as that held by Friends for peace and justice.'
In our personal lives, we are trying to "walk more gently on the earth" using renewable energy, growing some of our food organically, buying more locally grown food, working for ecological sustainability in our community, and generally trying to reduce our ecological footprints.
A major inspiration
for our work and walk is John Woolman, an 18th century Quaker who traveled within the Religious Society of Friends to witness against slavery. He also warned that the seeds of war, injustice, and environmental deterioration can be fed when people strive after greater ease and luxury than is consistent with "Divine Wisdom" and their own spiritual well-being.
