Still in the making, and fund-raising on 350.org, is documentalist Estephan Wagner's new video Vanishing Worlds. See trailer promo below. He studied theatre in Santiago, Chile, learned video editing and directing in Germany, France, and the UK, and now works between London and Copenhagen.
It tells the story of three communities threatened by climate change. Inuit in the Alaskan village of Newtok, see permafrost melt and their houses collapse. The island of Ghoramara in the Indian Ocean is being drowned by rising sea levels. Desert expands into 20% of North China, including the once fertile fields of Minqun village. Wagner follows one family at each location, from the collapse of their livelihood and their forced relocation, to the start of a new home elsewhere.
